Here are a couple of reviews of the match against DC in the first game for RSL at the Carolina Challenge Cup:


DC United off to Disastrous start in Carolina Challenge Cup

“United did manage to get to halftime level at 0-0 in spite of their troubles. However it only took five minutes after the restart before Real Salt Lake were on the board with a header that slipped past Platter.”

“Real Salt Lake put the match to rest in the 76th minute when Clint Mathis’ lobbed pass found the foot of Yura Movsisyan who dispatched past Platter for the 2-0 lead.”

The forward’s diving header re-directed the ball to the far post, past a helpless Platter, striking the woodwork before deflecting into the back of the net.”

“In the 76th minute, Salt Lake doubled their lead when Clint Mathis gathered the ball near midfield and lofted a chip over the United defense to Yura Movsisyan. In alone on goal, Movsisyan struck the bouncing ball with his first touch over an approaching Platter and into the back of the net.”
