Here's some speculation on stadium naming...
A poster on Big Soccer (aosthed) discovered that the domain names for both http://www.riotintostadium.com/ and http://www.riotintofield.com/ have been recently (about 4 weeks ago) registered with the listed registrant being Real Salt Lake. Of course, the logical conclusion would be that these are related to the recent announcement by Bill Manning that a deal for the stadium naming rights has been reached, and a related announcement that the City of Sandy has granted some temporary exceptions to their external building signage limitations.
A word of caution - the team could have secured domain names for a couple of potential naming partners prior to any deal being finalized, but it seems likely that this will be the naming partner.
Rio Tinto, parent company of Kennecott, seems like a reasonably good fit. I do know that Rio Tinto has recently expressed a desire to take a more visibly position in this community. Rio Tinto is also a solid, large international company with a fairly sizeable Utah presence. However, Dave Checketts had indicated that one of the preferences would be to have a "consumer brand" on the stadium, instead of a situation like Energy Solutions Arena. I'm not sure this would be dramatically different than that one.
I have been unable to confirm any of this.
