A number of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to sit down and talk with Andy Williams about soccer, but also about how his family is dealing with the recent discovery that his wife, Marcia has a rare form of Leukemia. In that 45 minutes that we spent together I was struck by how down-to-earth he is, how much he cares for his wife and family, and that soccer really is just a game - it's the other aspects of life that matter most.
Marcia needs serious, and VERY expensive medical attention to battle this, and more importantly she needs your help. So instead of spending $60 on another RSL jersey, please contribute to this cause. Here are some upcoming events that you can participate in:

Hi everyone, Soccer Unites has two upcoming fundraisers for the Williams' Family. Tuesday, September 30 at Juan Diego Catholic High School at 6:00. $5.00 Donation at the door. T-shirts and our new bracelets will be available. 100% of all proceeds will go to Soccer Unites for The Williams.
Juan Diego and Judge Memorial Girl's soccer teams have come together to create a great fundraiser. There will be a boy's mini game and a girl's mini game with RSL involved. The third mini game will be a celebrity game with ALL RSL coaches, Jacque Rimando, Ashley Fraser, Ashley Johnson, Seth Trembly and The Good Things Utah girls, vs The Friends of The Williams' Family (RSL Reserves). After Kyle Beckerman, Chris Wingert and Seth Trembly will be playing a few songs. We will have a donation ticket give away and it will be a great time!
October 11 is CASINO NIGHT! This is our BIG one being held at the Salt Palace Convention Center. The evening will consist of Casino tables (win tickets for prizes once your chips are turned in), great great prizes, live auction, DJ and great food! Cash bar will be available. Tickets are availble NOW (you need to get them quick, the golf tournament sold out very quickly) on line at www.soccerunitesutah.com $50.00 includes dinner, fun and $50.00 worth of fun chips. We also have a Texas Hold Em Tournament, entry fee $100.00 with only 32 spots available. Of course Andy and Marcia's RSL family will be in attendence.

Andy and Marcia are SO grateful for this support, along with the love and prayers that have been offered! Marcia WILL be having a bone marrow transplant and going through chemotherapy. She is facing her fifth bone marrow test this month trying to find a match. She has a very rare blood type and bone marrow so the search is more difficult. Her blood is checked weekly and they are just waiting for the match. As you can see the cost of just finding the bone marrow is adding up very quickly, let alone the actually transplant and chemotherapy. Soccer Unites is the POWER OF SOCCER COMING TOGETHER. Your support is needed and very much appreciated.
