Breaking News on Yura & Acquisitions

Yura will be staying through end of year. Negotiations with Randers on a transfer fee broke down yesterday.

“Yura’s staying. Of course, we’re glad to have Yura,” RSL GM Garth Lagerwey told the media.

“What’s pretty standard practice is they make the lowball offer. The guy flies over. If he signs then you make sure to get his picture taken with the team jersey and then they try to get you to make an emotional decision to try to get you to take their pittance of an offer. We didn’t do that and they didn’t come off their offer.”

“We had a great offer on the table to Yura. He was flying over. They were upfront with us about that the whole time. It’s a yes, maybe who knows. And they called us about two days in and said things look likely and then they signed the next day. And so we said okay lets see if we can get a deal done that makes sense for everybody, and that part didn’t happen.”

“Within the world of soccer this is completely normal that someone would sign a contract and continue to play for another team.”

“Yura’s a good kid. He’s done nothing but work hard. I have every assurance that his hard work and good attitude are going to continue.”

“I speculate that he signed for less money in Denmark. We made a substantial offer. We had substantial money upfront to sign as well. I don’t know what he signed for, but I would be surprised if they outbid us.”

Garth Lagerwey indicated RSL will look to add 1 or 2 attacking players, at least 1 of them likely international.  Announcement of signee likely by July 15th opening of transfer window.

“It will be one or two. The window opens on the 15th, and it’s likely we’ll have an announcement by that time on at least one player.”

“I speculate that he signed for less money in Denmark. We made a substantial offer. We had substantial money upfront to sign as well. I don’t know what he signed for, but I would be surprised if they outbid us.”

“We’re gonna bring in at least one attacking player. I suspect we’ll bring in two. We have an offer out now. We could make another one as soon as today. But as you guys all know, those are offers and anything can happen.”

“I think we will add at least one international player.”

“Do we need an attacking player right now? We do. In the switch in formation from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 do we need another wide player? I would say that we do. That’s just part of every summer, we’re going to go through this. In the middle of our season, every year you’re going to see 1 or 2 guys go and 1 or 2 guys come.”
