Movsisyan's Brother on Trial with Fusion

Movsisyan's Brother, Moyses, on Trial with Fusion

Ventura County Star...

The match enables the Fusion to welcome back its first international, Jean Alexandre, who left the club last summer after his call-up to the Haitian national team.

Alexandre was drafted 12th overall in the recent MLS Superdraft by Real Salt Lake.

“It’s exciting,” said Smith. “He’s really high on (Salt Lake coach) Jason Kreis’ list of players that are going to become good.”

Alexandre, who played up front in college, is being used as an offensive midfield player by Real.

“He’s an extremely strong player,” said Smith. “He’s got a lethal shot on him.”

Last year, the Fusion was able to witness the finishing talents of Salt Lake striker Yura Movsisyan, who scored four times in a 6-0 Salt Lake drubbing of a skeletal Fusion side.

This year, the Fusion has Movsisyan’s younger brother, Moyses, on trial, making the match a family affair.

“We’re going to give him a chance,” said Smith.

Match Sidenote: Weather may play a factor in todays match. It is unusually cold for Southern California (low 50's, which is a good temperature for soccer), but rains are expected to roll in around the second half of the match.
