Soccer Unites Utah Golf Tournament

GoldenBoot and I were able to take part in the Soccer Unites Utah (http://www.soccerunitesutah.com/) charity golf event for the benefit of Marcia Williams (Andy's wife) who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. Many local dignitaries and Real Salt Lake staff and players were on-hand for this event. It was a very successful event and alot of fun. But more importantly it was for a good cause. Also thanks to the generosity of the sponsors of this event 100% of the fees collected ($250 per team) went to the charity itself.

Since I know you were wondering - our team did quite well finishing at 7-under. However, the winning team came in at a whopping 14-under par. I think the best player team that I saw was Mathis, Acosta, Balc and Kirby at 9-under. Many of the other RSL players have clearly chosen the correct sport to pursue, because golf is not it.

Deb Harper with Soccer Unites Utah who also helps with Leo's Pride did a tremendous job organizing this event, as well as organizing other fundraisers for this special cause. Look for information on http://www.soccerunitesutah.com/ for upcoming events such as a charity match between Judge and Juan Diego girls soccer teams which will include appearances by some RSL players and coaches, as well as a Casino night coming up in October.

Also, look for the signature Andy Williams long-sleeved t-shirts in Carnival Real at Saturday's match against Chivas.
