Valencia to Appear in MLS All-Star Contest

Word out of Spain confirms the speculation by Steve Goff that Valencia will be the All-Star opponent.

VALENCIA / D. RODRÍGUEZ The Major League Soccer, which is how it is called, plans to formally announce within days that Valencia will be the guest of the event except for this year. The target date is next July 29. The venue, the newly opened Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City.

With the dire financial situation for Valencia this could be an interesting situation to keep an eye on over the next few months. It will also be interesting to see if the La Liga club is forced to sell off high profile players between now and then.

Valencia - MLS All-Star Game Opponent?

Steve Goff, the Soccer Insider, is reporting that Valencia is the leading candidate for the All-Star Game opponent on July 29th at Rio Tinto Stadium. He also indicates that a decision is expected next week.

Not quite the top-notch opponent that had talked about in Milan, Inter, Real Madrid, etc. The team is still a quality side and features star striker, David Villa. They currently sit tied for 5th in La Liga.

The team also raised eyebrows in recent weeks for failing to pay their players. This move is likely done in order to help raise some cash to help the team meet their financial obligations.
