CHICAGO (July 28, 2009) — After a presale for U.S. Soccer SC members and others, tickets for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against El Salvador on Sept. 5 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, will go on sale Friday, Aug. 7, at 12 p.m. MT.

The game is the seventh of 10 for the U.S. in the final round of qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and is the fourth of five home games. The game kicks off at 6 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on ESPN Classic and Galavision.

The U.S. is making its first trip to newly minted Rio Tinto Stadium and returns to the Salt Lake City market four years after a dominating 3-0 victory against Costa Rica in front of a raucous crowd of 40,586 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The victory was sparked by two goals from Landon Donovan and six second-half saves by goalkeeper Kasey Keller.

Tickets for the event are expected to be in high demand, and members of the U.S. Soccer Supporters Club (U.S. Soccer SC) received an exclusive two-day window to purchase tickets starting at 10 a.m. MT today. Following the U.S. Soccer SC sale, Real Salt Lake season ticket holders and Visa cardholders will each have a two-day presale before tickets go on sale to the general public.

Tickets starting at $38 go on sale to the public Friday, Aug. 7, at 12 p.m. MT through ussoccer.com, by phone at 801-727-2700 (Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and at the Rio Tinto Stadium ticket office (open Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Ultimate Fan Tickets, special VIP packages which include a premium ticket, a customized official U.S. national team jersey with name and number, VIP access to the field before and after the game, and other unique benefits, are also available now exclusively through ussoccer.com.

As a sponsor of U.S. Soccer, Visa® is pleased to offer all Visa cardholders access to an advance ticket sale for this match before the sale to the general public. This advance sale starts Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. MT and runs until Thursday, Aug. 6, at 11:59 p.m. at ussoccer.com. Visa will be the only payment method accepted through the Visa presale and is the preferred card of U.S. Soccer. Terms and conditions apply.

The El Salvador match will be the second meeting between the teams in the final round, as the U.S. came from behind on goals by Jozy Altidore and Frankie Hejduk to take a point on the road with a 2-2 tie on March 28 in San Salvador, El Salvador. The U.S. will look to get the full three points with a win, which would be their 10th straight home win in the series. Overall, the U.S. is 13-1-5 all-time against El Salvador, with a 4-0-3 record in FIFA World Cup qualifying.

The Sept. 5 qualifier will be followed by a trip to Trinidad & Tobago on Sept. 9 to complete the double fixture date. The games will conclude the busiest stretch ever for the U.S. MNT in which, including an Aug. 12 match-up with Mexico in Mexico City, the team will have played 16 matches in 99 days from June 3 to Sept. 9.

The U.S. Soccer Supporters Club is the official fan membership program of the U.S. national teams. U.S. Soccer Supporters Club creates a unique platform for the most passionate fans to demonstrate their support, and members are provided exclusive benefits highlighted by priority status to secure tickets to the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
