Escalada Out

Keepin' It Real has learned that Real Salt Lake has decided not to pick up the option on Escalada's contract, and the player is currently headed back to his native Argentina. This comes on the heels of a report that Escalada is hoping for a return to Ecuador where Escalada has seen the bulk of his professional success.

This move opens the door for RSL to potentially make a move during the upcoming transfer window. This will free up a roster spot and salary cap space to allow such a move.

Check back for further updates on this later this evening. EDIT: Updates were reported on Coaches Show as Garth Lagerwey mentioned that it was more or less a mutual decision. Sounds like Escalada initiated the discussion. Lagerwey also indicated that this does open the door for a potential addition, and it could be the same position.
