Nunez's first MLS goal lifts Real Salt Lake -> KSL
Nunez, who entered the game in the 41st minute after Robbie Findley was injured, scored the winning goal in the 60th minute for RSL (5-5-4).

Nunez barely registered as more than a footnote when the season began, buried deep on the roster behind Kenny Deuchar, Robbie Findley, Fabian Espindola and Yura Movsisyan. But injuries to Espindola and Movsisyan opened up a quick path to daylight and valuable playing time.

There were numerous chances for both sides in the opening minutes, with the first dangerous chance falling to Real Salt Lake in the sixth minute. Javier Morales – who leads MLS with seven assists – sent a curling free kick from the right wing into the area for Kenny Deuchar, but the Scottish forward’s header struck the right post.

"Everyday [I] just come to training and work on every aspect of my game and just be ready for every opportunity that's given to me," Nunez said. "And that's my main focus right now, any little chance I get just try and make the best of it."

The meeting was the last-ever between the two sides at Rice-Eccles Stadium, as RSL is scheduled to move into its new soccer-specific facility late this season.
